چکیده

The paper presents optimized methods for PCR and sequence typing of Streptococcus pneumoniae. serotype composition pneumococci isolated from children under 5 years age with infections the upper respiratory tract was analyzed using methods. Between 2016 2021, there a decrease in frequency serotypes included pneumococcal 13-valent conjugate vaccine (PCV13) 94.1 to 25.8%, mainly due 6ABCD serogroup 19F serotype. coverage circulating PCV15 PCV20 vaccines 28.1% 41.6% respectively. During study period, number non-vaccine serogroups 11AD 15AF, as well that are not detected this capsular protocol, increased most significantly.

Molecular Detection and Serotyping of Streptococcus Pneumoniae in Children with Suspected Meningitis in Northeast Iran

Background: To date, more than 90 Streptococcus pneumoniae (S. pneumoniae) capsular serotypes are known. The prevalence of these serotypes varies according to the geographical area and the regional vaccination program. Due to the lack of regular vaccination programs for S. pneumoniae in developing countries, serotyping of the prevalent isolates is useful in selecting the correct vaccine. The pr...

Molecular Epidemiology of Streptococcus pneumoniae Isolates from Children with Recurrent Upper Respiratory Tract Infections

A total of 125 isolates were recovered from adenoids and/or nasopharynx of 170 children aged 2 to 5 from south-east Poland; they had undergone adenoidectomy for recurrent and/or persistent symptoms of upper respiratory tract infections. Pneumococcal isolates were analyzed by phenotyping (serotyping and antimicrobial resistance tests) and genotyping together with the clonality of the pneumococca...

Dynamics of serotype 14 Streptococcus pneumoniae population causing acute respiratory infections among children in China (1997–2012)

BACKGROUND In the last decade, the Streptococcus pneumoniae population has changed, mainly due to the abuse of antibiotics. The aim of this study was to determine the genetic structure of 144 S. pneumonia serotype 14 isolates collected from children with acute respiratory infections during 1997-2012 in China. METHODS All isolated pneumococci were tested for their sensitivity to 11 kinds of an...

784Acute respiratory infections and Streptococcus pneumoniae Carriage

Background. Bacterial pneumonia and otitis media often follow influenza and other upper respiratory viral infections. Streptococcus pneumoniae (SP) is one of the most frequent culprits. While animal models suggest influenza enhances SP transmission and growth and that SP may increase influenza morbidity, there is limited evidence in human populations. We estimated the prevalence of SP among adu...

Nasopharyngeal carriage of penicillin-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae among children with acute respiratory tract infections in Thailand: a molecular epidemiological survey.

The prevalence of penicillin-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae in Thailand has dramatically increased over the last decade. During a national survey, which was conducted from 1992 to 1994, 37.2% of the pneumococci isolated from the nasopharynges of children with acute respiratory tract infections were penicillin resistant (MIC, >/=0.1 microg/ml). In order to investigate the prevalence and clon...
